Kormala, Kormala, Thrissur

The Provincial Synaxis of 1978 decided to have new institutions in those areas where our presence has not yet been felt. So we purchased 10¾ acres of land with a small house on June 21, 1978 at Kormala, an undeveloped village towards the southern boundaries of our province. After repairing the house, one of our fathers began to stay there on November 21, 1980.
Our vision is the all round development of the village, by giving employment facilities, imparting literacy and starting progressive activities with the co-operation of the villagers.
A Youth club, “Tigers sports club”, was formed there to channelize the energy of the youth for social and cultural activities. In order to impart leadership qualities to children, a “Tiny Tot” club was inaugurated. A Mahila samajam was formed for the welfare activities among the women of the locality.
Girivikas welfare society, which was started under the sponsorship of KESS, is still at work, with people-participation, for the welfare of the people around.
To make the spiritual animation of the people, we have the units of Sunday school and Pious Associations.
The new house was blessed in December 1983 and the new chapel on January 3, 1986. Our Chapel was raised to the status of a parish on September 30, 2000. Carmalamatha is the patroness of the parish church.
